Issued by the City of Brockton, Which Have Not Been Cashed and are Deemed Abandoned

It is the policy of the City of Brockton’s Treasurer’s Office to review and update accounting records. The following is a list of persons and vendors who received a check from the city, but that check was never cashed. If your name appears on the list you may file a claim with the Treasurer’s office. In order to process a claim, we will need a photo I.D. with current address, Social Security number or Tax I.D., and daytime phone number. Also, if you have moved in the past six (6) years, please provide proof of any previous addresses. Any questions may be answered by calling the Treasurer’s Office Monday through Friday between the hours of 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm EST at 508-580-7159.
All claims must be received by September 9, 2016
List of Abandoned Checks
The Treasurer is responsible for investing all monies due to the city including, but not limited to real estate tax, personal property tax, motor vehicle excise tax, boat excise tax, parking ticket fines, water and sewer bills, parking meter receipts, federal and state reimbursement and grants, as well as miscellaneous department permits, licenses, and fees.
The department is also responsible for the timely disbursement of all payrolls to city, school department, and retired employees, and the associated federal and state reporting requirements.
The Treasurer is also responsible for disbursement of all warrants for payment to vendors and the reconciliation of checks and bank accounts. The department issues all authorized debt for both short and long-term borrowing.
