Ladder 1 Fire Truck


The Brockton Fire Department is the busiest department in Massachusetts per capita.

On January 1, 2017 the Brockton Fire Department was upgraded to an ISO Class 1 rating by the National Insurance Services Office Inc., an independent New Jersey-based company that provides industry-wide ratings for all insurance companies in the United States seeking detailed information on public safety capabilities of municipal fire fighting and prevention classification.  Brockton’s upgrade makes it only the 5th Department in the Commonwealth to reach this achievement.
ISO Classification Summary

Under the leadership of Chief Michael F. Williams, with the support of the Mayor and the City Council, Brockton’s Fire Department continues to strive to maintain Emergency Services during these difficult economic times to a diverse, multicultural population. In 2016 the Department responded to 26,523 incidents in the city.

The Brockton Fire Department trains on a daily basis to stay abreast of the latest firefighting and EMS techniques.  It’s Fire Prevention and Code Enforcement Office works to maintain compliance with applicable state statutes and city ordinances to provide a safe environment for both residents and firefighters.
