The Brockton Emergency Management Agency (BEMA) is responsible for coordinating with state and federal authorities to protect the public during disasters and emergencies. BEMA helps develop plans for effective response to all hazards, trains emergency personnel, provides information to families and residents, and assists in recovery from disaster.
Brockton's Local Emergency Planning Committee, one of the few certified by the state of Massachusetts, is staffed with approximately 40 experienced people, representing a cross-section of expertise, who have volunteered to coordinate emergency resources.
